Rocket League set for eSports series

rocket-league-esportsTwitch will partner with developer Psyonix to host the inaugural Rocket League Championship Series, the company announced. The first season of the new esports competition will open for registration starting March 25 and be exclusively broadcast live on the streaming platform, according to a press release.

The series will unfold over three months, with two sets of qualifiers running for a month each. Teams of three — who will play the rocket-powered soccer hybrid on both PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, with support for Xbox One “to be revealed in the future” — will compete to make it to the online finals. The winning teams at the end of the qualifying rounds will be awarded $10,000 and a spot in the live, international finale.

The grand prize is $75,000 and the title of first-ever Rocket League esports champion. All matches, including the finals, will be streamed live on Twitch.
