Super Monkey Ball: Touch And Roll

Marble Madness was always a classic arcade game and as soon as Sega introduced Super Monkey Ball to the GameCube it was always going to be a massive succcess.

The marble was replaced by a monkey in a ball, with a rather dodgy storyline but level after level of more and more difficult challenges to complete.

Super Monkey Ball Junior on the GameBoy Advance followed, then Super Monkey Ball 2 for the GameCube and finally a port to the PS2 and Xbox in the form of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. Now we have possibly the perfect format in the touchy feely DS.

Roll your ball from the Start to the Finish points, picking up bananas for bonus points and avoiding pitfalls such as holes in the floor, moving blocks and spinning wheels. To roll the ball you use the stylus to tilt the level around you but this gets more and more frustrating as the difficulty levels increase. There’s 50 stages to complete, over 10 different worlds.

The success of Super Monkey Ball, however, has always been in the bonus mini-games. Unlock these party games and you’ll find so much more to this title. All the originals are here, from the very addictive Monkey Golf to Monkey Bowling and Monkey Race, plus the addition of two new mini-games - Monkey Hockey and Monkey Wars.

The lack of analogue control over your simian is frustrating, but otherwise this is exactly what we would have expected for this DS puzzler. Roll on Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll 2...
