The fishing tourney is one of the most popular features of the old Animal Crossing Nintendo Gamecube game that has continued into New Horizons on the Switch.
It is on every Saturday until 6pm. To enter you need to speak to CJ in the Plaza. He’ll explain the rules – catch as many fish as you can catch in three minutes.
Any fish you catch will be automatically transferred to the cooler box next to him, which you can then sell back to him at a premium at the end or take back for yourself.
For every fish you catch you’ll earn points that you can swap for swag – Fishing Tourney rewards. It’s 10 points per prize, as far as we can tell.
Points system
1 fish – 1 point
2 fish – 2 points
3 fish – 5 points
4 fish – 6 points
5 fish – 7 points
6 fish – 8 points
7 fish – 9 points
8 fish – 10 points
9 fish – 11 points
10 fish – 12 points
Your first entry into the Fishing Tourney will be free but after that it’ll cost you 500 Bells a go.
