Free Forza Fast and Furious Game Coming

forza-fast-furiousMicrosoft and Universal Pictures are working together for a free standalone Forza Horizon 2 game featuring cars and missions inspired by the Fast & Furious movie franchise.

The Associated Press broke the news. Universal executive Bill Kispert said the film company had been talking with Forza developer Turn 10 for “years” now about a potential partnership. The stars finally aligned.

The game–called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious–will be released on March 27 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Being a standalone game, it won’t require Forza Horizon 2. The game will be free until April 10 in a bid to promote the release of Furious 7, the latest entry in the blockbuster movie franchise that hits theaters on April 3.

After April 10, the game will cost $10.

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is set before the events of the movie. In it, you’ll play as a driver in France who must acquire cars for mechanic Tej Parker, played by Ludacris in the movies and the game. Some of the cars from Furious 7 that will appear in the game include the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, 1998 Toyota Supra, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, and the 2014 Maserati Ghibli S.

Turn 10 studio head Alan Hartman said the developer had no interest in making “another movie-based game,” going to on say that the studio’s collaboration with Universal is something different.

“When we started talking about this with Universal years ago, it was really about bringing both of our franchise’s strengths to the table,” he said. “We’re building on top of everything we’ve done over the last decade.”
